concentrate our attention upon the work of the little-known or even anonymous masters and endeavor to delineate the outlines of a "style" belonging not only to an individual but to a generation and a country. Particular problems in the decorative arts can in this way lead to an understanding of the mind and taste of a bygone age that is quite unexpected. Hence it is that such studies in the highways and byways of the history of art so often result in rich and rewarding discoveries. Although these pieces enjoyed an exceptional favor with nineteenth-century collectors it has been hard to determine by whom and where they were made. They have been appreciated above all for reasons of style. And it is according to their style that they have been given to several workshops and masters who remain merely as names in the history of art. Performance to Weaning of Three-Breed Cross Calves Sired by Charolais and Limousin Bulls
Various two-breed cross cow groups were mated to Charolais and Limousin bulls to produce a total of574 three-breed cross calves over a two-year period. Average birth weights were 81.2 Ib and 76.2 Ib for calves produced from Charolais and Limousin sires, respectively. Calving assistance was required for 12.4 percent ofCharolais-sired calves and 4.0 percent of the Limousin-sired calves. Charolais...
متن کاملCharacterization of topcross progenies from Hereford, Limousin, and Piedmontese sires.
Breeds of larger mature size tend to grow more rapidly and be older when attaining a given level of fatness. Hereford, Limousin, and Piedmontese are of approximately equal mature size and yet may vary in body composition at a given degree of maturity. However, direct comparisons among these three breeds were not found. Therefore, the objective of this research was to compare Hereford, Limousin,...

The transition metal nitrides like titanium nitride exhibit very interesting color variation properties depending on the different plasma deposition conditions using cylindrical magnetron sputtering method. It is found in this deposition study that nitrogen partial pressure in the reactive gas discharge environment plays a significant role on the color variation of the film coatings on bell-met...

Postweaning growth and puberty traits were studied in 965 heifers produced by mating Hereford and Angus cows to Hereford, Angus, Jersey, South Devon, Limousin, Charolais and Simmental sires. Estrus was checked twice daily from 250 to either 480 or 510 days of age and age and weight at puberty were evaluated. Puberty was defined as date of first standing estrus.
